I was asked to create a work commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, to be featured in an exhibit in the home town of Astronaut Neil Armstrong. After looking through royalty free images released by NASA, I chose to paint this iconic image of Buzz Aldrin. If you look closely in the helmet, you can see Neil Armstrong, the photographer of the image. I felt that his personal point of view was the best representation of this historic event. |
