Coneflower
Oil on linen

Private Collection

My submission for Small Painting Sunday at the 2019 Plein Air Easton Competition. I never found coneflowers particularly paint worthy. They're somewhat awkward as flowers go. Kimberly pointed out to me how beautiful they looked in the sun as we took a break late one afternoon during Plein Air Easton, and it was then that I realized I wanted to paint this flower. Sometimes we all need someone else's eye on things that we normally take for granted.
