Learn to paint dynamic animal portraits, capturing a likeness as rapidly as possible. This 3-day workshop will focus on the accuracy of drawing, values, edges, texture, and color. Learn to paint alla prima, with dynamic brushwork and texture, achieving not only a likeness, but energetic and engaging paintings. We will focus on quick starts and a less is more approach. Learn what factors contribute to a likeness vs. unnecessary details that can contribute to an overworked, lifeless painting. All levels welcome, even if you’ve never painted animals before. Patrick’s simple steps for evaluating your paintings in progress will improve not only your skills as a portrait painter, but your painting abilities in general.
Class size is limited, so that each student can receive the maximum amount of interaction with the instructor. A suggested materials list will be provided prior to the class.
Cancellation Policy: Included in each workshop is a non-refundable $100 registration fee. Cancellations 30 days prior to the class receive a full refund minus the $100 registration fee. Cancellations within 30 days of the class only receive a full refund minus $100 processing fee if a replacement can be found to fill the open spot.
