This 3-day workshop will focuses on painting from direct observation. Each day, the class will explore a different subject.

Day 1 - the still life setup

Day 2 - the figure from a live model

Day 3 - the portrait sketch from a live model

By emphasizing accuracy in drawing, values, edges, texture, and color, students will learn to paint alla prima, with dynamic brushwork and texture, achieving energetic and engaging paintings. All levels welcome, even if you’ve never painted from life before. While Patrick will be demonstrating in oil paint, acrylics and pastels are also welcome.

Class size is limited to 14, so that each student can receive the maximum amount of interaction with the instructor. A suggested materials list will be provided prior to the class.

Cancellation Policy: Included in each workshop is a non-refundable $100 registration fee. Cancellations 30 days prior to the class receive a full refund minus the $100 registration fee. Cancellations within 30 days of the class only receive a full refund minus $100 processing fee if a replacement can be found to fill the open spot.
